Have you ever wondered why you get the results you do?
Everything turns out as a result. An outcome. Your bank balance is a result, your beautifully manicured lawn, your nicely permed hair (do they still do perms?) your burnt Sunday roast, your weight or your salary is 20k less than the guy in the same office. It’s the same thing in professional sports as well as our personal lives, as they all get a result.
Our results are simply the outcome of what we put in. Rubbish in = rubbish out as I was first told when introduced to computers way back whenever. But that still applies to everything we do. All we have to do is look at our results to get a pretty good idea of where our focus has been.
Now that may see pretty harsh or simple even but it’s true.
Our weight and size is not down to someone else forcing those extra helpings of treacle pudding into our mouths, nor the extra large kebab on the way home after a night out on the toot!
The same applies with what's going into your head.
So what can we do about any of this?
First of all make a note of what it is your unhappy with or want to change. If it is something you can change then great. You’re in a good spot. If it’s not something you can change, then you have to let it go. For example the weather or the guy in the accounts department who wears odd colour socks that really tee you off. Just let it go and focus on what you can change.
Now before you start making a list as long as the kid’s Christmas prezzie list, STOP. Only make a list of 3-4 things as if you have too many, this can lead to overwhelm and more problems. Once you have a list of a few things, prioritise which one you feel you want to change first, then second then third. Once you have done that, decide when you want to start changing things. It doesn’t matter what it is, once you have made your decision, make a start.
Work at changing this each and every day until it becomes a habit if necessary to effect the change and get the result you want. It may only take you a few days to change something, maybe a few hours, such as your hairstyle, or cleaning the dirty kitchen windows. It doesn’t matter, but changing it will get the results you want and therefore a happier you. Which means having happier you will also mean a healthier and more productive you.
Try it and see!
